Church Street, Eastwood in the 1800s

editorial image

This is a view of Church Street in Eastwood looking towards the market place.

It was taken in the late 1800s or early 1900s, and appears in the book Eastwood: On Old Picture Postcards by David Ottewell, as do the photos below.

This postcard was sent to Cheltenham from Eastwood in 1905.

The Old Wine Vaults can be seen in the foreground on the right.

The lower flat roofed building beyond was the premises of the Nottingham Joint Stock Bank Ltd.
