Eastwood Cocker House, built in 1828

Cocker House is seen here on a card published by J Harris, who was a stationer in Eastwood.

Built in 1828, it was the model for DH Lawrence’s Shottle House in ‘Aaron’s Rod’.

It was last occupied around 1959 or 1960, after which the site was buried under coal waste from Moorgreen Pit.
