More than £11,000 raised for firefighters charity
More than £11,000 was raised for The Fire Fighters Charity at the weekend from three local bonfire and firework events supported by Nottinghamshire firefighters.
The fun started at Fernwood Academy in Wollaton on Friday night when Highfields crews joined about 500 people at the school to literally start the weekend with a bang! Proceeds will be shared between the school and The Fire Fighters Charity.
The Newark event at Sconce and Devon Park on Saturday attracted over 3,000 people and collected an incredible £9,162 in ticket sales – twice the sum achieved last year and almost guaranteeing that a 2013 event will be in the calendar!
The Stapleford crew enjoyed their biggest-ever turn-out in in 20 years of bonfire events for the local community, with nearly 5,000 people marvelling at the double display at George Spencer School on Saturday evening.
The Fire Fighters Charity expects to receive about £2,000 when the profits are shared with the school.
Thanks go to everyone who supported the events and enjoyed a spectacular evening of safe family entertainment.
