War research appeal made
Sir,
I am doing some research on the generation that lived through the Second World War and the effect it had on their lives.
The men who served in the armed forces, the women who worked in the factories or on farms, the children who were evacuated to faraway places, all lived through experiences that my generation, who came along after the war, can only imagine.
Although thousands of people have written about their wartime lives, there are many more whose story has never been told.
These people are now in their 80s and 90s, and before it is too late I would like to hear at first hand what it was like for ordinary people to live through these momentous times.
I would like, therefore, through the courtesy of your columns, to get in touch with anyone who has memories of the war. My contact number is 07761 498284 and my e-mail address in malcolm@cowper483.wanadoo.co.uk.
