Lord Mountbatten gives his speech in Singapore at the end of World War Two after accepting the surrender of 680,000 Japanese soldiers in South East Asia on September 12, 1945.

The ceremony was held in the Council Chamber of the Singapore Town Hall in the presence of military representatives of the United States, India, Australia, China, France and Holland.

The picture was brought in by Eastwood war veteran Scott Smith, 86.

Mr Smith, of Parr Avenue, Eastwood, said it was taken in 1945 by a friend of his.

He brought it in to coincide with Remembrance Day.
