This is a picture of the Eastwood and District football team.
John Willetts used to be the captain of Mr Langley’s Beauvale team, but said he recognised some faces in this photo also.
He said the players pictured second and third from the right on the front row were the Moss brothers – Alan and Malcolm.
The Moss brothers were well known in the area, and their sister, Barbara Kirkland, also got in touch after seeing this photo last week.
She said Alan had moved to Australia and Malcolm lived in Derby.
The player next to them is Stuart Paul, who was known at the time as ‘Chalkie’.
Mr Willetts said when Mr Langley left Beauvale School, the football players bought him a watch as a leaving gift.
The 55-year-old, from Newthorpe, said: “He always used to borrow mine for PE lessons and football matches, so when he left we did a collection for him.”
The ex-footballer recalled how Mr Langley used to pick up a blade of grass to see which way they wind was blowing.
“He would want us to play into the wind in the second half when we had more energy,” he said.
Mr Willetts said: “There’s one or two teachers you remember with fondness and he was one of them. There was no-one like him,” he said.
“He was a nice fella. Hopefully he remembers me!”
