Lynncroft Pottery in Eastwood, 1920s

editorial image

This is a picture of Lynncroft Pottery in Eastwood.

A procession is passing the building, although it is not known what the event was.

The pottery dates back to the 1920s and was run by the Mellors family.

An avenue of houses on Lynncroft has now replaced the pottery business, which employed about 50 people.

They used to make little ink pots and salt-glazed stoneware, and got their clay from a quarry between The Breach and Walker Street.

If anybody can shed any light on what the parade was in aid of in this photo, they should call 0115 944 6160.
