Hits from the past in pop show
THE Sensational 60s Experience returns to Derby’s Assembly Rooms later this year for a performance there on Friday, November 16.
For one night only, you can hear all the original hits performed by four of the most popular bands of the 60s, starring The Tremeloes, Hermans Hermits, The Union Gapuk and The Ivy League, and the show will be hosted by Jon Brennan from The Ivy League.
This quintessential 60s line-up is packed with nostalgia and hits such as Silence is Golden, Twist and Shout, Here Comes my Baby, Even The Bad Times Are Good, Angel Of The Morning, I’m Into Something Good, Something Is Happening, No Milk Today, I’m Henry The 8th, Young Girl, Over You, Funny How Love Can Be and Tossing & Turning.
Probably the most popular 60s band still touring all over the world today, The Tremeloes were the first British 60s band to have hits in South America.
In 1961 Decca records auditioned two bands where one would receive a three-year contract. These were The Tremeloes and The Beatles. After the auditions, The Tremeloes emerged with a three-year contract and the rest is history.
Herman’s Hermits proved to be a dominating force worldwide throughout the mid-60s music scene. From 1964, the band chalked up over 23 top 20 singles, ten hit albums and three major movies.
The Union Gap gained worldwide recognition when their first combined release Young Girl hit the number one spot in the UK and number 2 in the USA while kept going from strength to strength throughout the 60s, maintaining their popularity to the present day.
They have built the show into one of the finest musical comedy acts in the country.
The Ivy League guarantee to have the audience rolling in the aisles with laughter. Couple this with their hit records Funny How Love Can Be, Tossing & Turning and That’s Why I’m Crying, and it all spells out the feelgood factor at its very best.
