Have the time of your life!
Audiences can have ‘the time of their life’ during the smash hit show Dirty Dancing’s stay at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal.
The touring production opened there on Tuesday and will run through until Saturday, March 2.
Over 25,000 fans have already bought their tickets in eager anticipation of seeing the show. Due to overwhelming demand since the show went on sale last February, the producers have had to add two extra matinee performances to the popular show’s three-week run.
Jonathan Saville, director of Sales, marketing and development for the theatre, said: “The demand for Dirty Dancing tickets has been phenomenal, right from the moment we announced the show was coming to Nottingham at the beginning of last year.
“Having seen the show myself, I know that our audiences will find it’s definitely worth the wait! I would encourage anyone who hasn’t yet bought a ticket to contact our box office as soon as possible. We have only very limited availability on certain performances now, with most performances completely sold out. It’s definitely one of this season’s hottest tickets”.
Written by Eleanor Bergstein, scriptwriter and co-producer of the phenomenally successful 1987 film, the production features all the much-loved characters and original dialogue, with extra scenes added in.
The tantalising dance sequences and brand new choreography come alive on stage, set to all the hits from the soundtrack, such as Do You Love Me?, Hungry Eyes and the Academy Award Winning (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life, plus many more songs that weren’t on the original recording.
Paul-Michael Jones stars as Johnny Castle with Jill Winternitz appearing as Baby and Nancy Griffiths in the role of Penny Johnson.
