Local areas will be spruced up this May and June as part of the Big Clean weeks.
They will aim to improve cleanliness in four main town centres, including Eastwood and Kimberley, and will involve graffiti removal, additional cleansing and increased enforcement on littering as well as educational activities for young people.

Bu
sinesses will also be visited by Broxtowe Borough Council and issued with a retailers pack which contains information on how to keep their businesses greener, crime prevention and new parking regulations.

They will also be encouraged to sign up to a voluntary code of practice, an agreement to take more responsibility for the cleanliness of their business and the surrounding area.

The local Big Clean weeks will be held in Kimberley between May 27 and 30, and in Eastwood on June 2 to 6.

Each week will culminate with an information day, which will be staged in the respective town squares.

Various council departments and outside organisations, including the local PCSOs and Crime Reduction Manager, will be on hand to give out information and advice about a range of topics as well as give shoppers free Broxtowe Bags for life to encourage them to think about the way they use plastic bags.

For more information about the Big Clean Weeks contact Stephanie Wilkinson on 0115 917 3989 or James Mann on 0115 917 3446.

Today's Vote

Do you think there is room for development in our area, or do you agree with protesters that it's being turned into a "brick jungle"?
No more development, we're losing our beautiful countryside.
The protesters are overreacting
