Bjorn a life-size polar bear and his herder Ursula will be at Coronation Park on Saturday, July 12, as part of this year's Eastwood Arts Festival to share tales of life on the melting polar icecaps - he'll even bring his own iceberg.

Bjorn will be just one of the hosts of amazing attractions, such as the mysterious Pleasure Garden, an intimate performance in a formal garden that will magically appear on the morning of the event.

Audiences will be able to glimpse the innocent moments of Adam's first bite of the apple, beautiful ladies with peacocks for pets and dramatic garden experiments and explosions.

A giant inflatable lobster also promises to be an invigorating finale to the Desert Island Discs Show, performing on a revolving, rotunda stage and featuring the plight of a castaway as he struggles to survive the tropical clime of Eastwood.

Visitors may also be accosted by lots of explorers and superheroes, a group of brave Eastwood residents who have been working with theatre director Gerry Flannigan over the last two months to create some surprising and unique street theatre for the festival.

For the first time ever the event will feature a live stage providing a platform for local talent including the Eastwood Phoenix Band, drama, dance and music groups from Eastwood Comprehensive Saturday School as well as Eastwood's very own cheerleading group and the wonderful Belly Button Quartet.

There will be a huge variety of make-and-take activities including make your own bug or butterfly, alien headdress or fish wind sock, and an under-fives music and making area and a discovery of Africa and China in specialised tents.

Those who love to dance can sign up for a day full of dance workshops in the Stamping Ground tent featuring family fun with Lavantes Dance Group and others.

Other attractions include recycled arts, rag rug making, Hoots Owl display, relaxing hand massages from Feminenza and the Eastwood Phoenix Band have-a-go gazebo.
