An Eastwood drop-in centre which helps anyone in need of support received a £6,000 boost from Broxtowe Borough Council last week.
Broxtowe Deputy Mayor John Longdon presented the cheque to Derek Warren, chairman of the Eastwood Peoples Initiative, which will pay the salary of a project worker.
Manager Kay Hargreaves said: "It's kept our project worker in employment. Without her we wouldn't be able to give this service to the residents of Eastwood."
The initiative on Scargill Walk offers daytime drop-in support for anyone in need of support; services include welfare rights advice, support in seeking employment and training, laundry and shower, tea and food, compass needle exchange and the free use of phone for benefits, utilities and jobs.
Anyone over 16 in Eastwood South and North, Greasley (Beauvale, Newthorpe and Giltbrook)and Brinsley areas can access this service.
Opening hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 11am to 4pm, Friday 10am to 2pm.
