Broxtowe crime has been smashed thanks to the effective Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) which has helped reduce offences overall by a massive 30 per cent in the last three years.
This means that 2,390 fewer victims of crime have benefited from better crime prevention methods, increased community policing and work with residents in tackling crime.
Over the past three years the CDRP has focussed on tackling a wide range of c
rime and anti-social behaviour and has seen particular success in reducing car crime and house burglary within the borough.
This has been effective with the help of a number of successful initiatives including environmental improvements, high profile policing through the special weeks of action, enforcement of anti-social behaviour and designated public place orders the deployment and increase in CCTV cameras.
Drugs education and youth diversion has enable young people to make informed choices about the use of drugs and alcohol and to engage in sporting activities. Publicity around burglary and vehicle crime initiatives and seasonal crime campaigns has assisted in raising awareness throughout the borough.
For the victims of burglary provision has been provided through the ACORN security scheme and outreach support continues to be provided to victims of domestic violence.

"Broxtowe, in the past three years, has shown a positive picture of sustained improvement and work in 2008/09 will focus on those areas which need further improvement. "The South Notts Crime and Disorder Strategic Assessment will pave the way in tackling issues that are of concern to residents and businesses within the borough."
