An Eastwood man is celebrating scooping almost £2 million on the National Lottery.
Alan Rowley, 65, director of cleaning company We Clean For You won £1,925,567 on Saturday's draw.

It wasn't until 7am on Monday morning, however, that Alan realised he had won.

Alan, who lives on Garden Road with wife Sandra, 59, and two sons, Jamie, 28 and Luke, 21, said: "I always check my emails first thing in the morning in case I have a customer enquiry overnight.

"However, my eye wandered to the email from the National Lottery. It said I was a winner so I thought I'd just won another tenner. I was stunned to read I had actually won £1,925,567 and should call the lottery helpline. I had to ask my wife to double check I was reading it correctly."

Alan, who started his business in 2007 after being made redundant from a Derby firm continued to go to work this week.
He plans to spend his winnings on a new car and a holiday home in Kilnsea.

He said: "It's all a bit surreal at the moment. I was gobsmacked for want of a better word and it took a while to realise what I was reading. I thought it was a scam so I phoned the number but the line didn't open for another hour - it was the longest hour of my life, I sat there waiting to find out if I had won or not."

Wondering what to do, Alan went to the barbers and recieved the call on the way that confirmed he was a millionaire.

He said: "This win couldn't come at a better time for us. Sandra retires in three weeks and it is Luke's birthday on September 5."

Alan played online and matched six numbers. These were 2, 14, 27, 31, 36 and 44. They were also chosen by three other people, with each one claiming £1,925,567.

Alan, who is a press officer for Langley Mill Cricket Club says he won't get chance to celebrate this weekend as there are two important cricket matches taking place.
