EASTWOOD'S new retirement complex has been formally named after a competition.
The McCarthy and Stone development on Church Street has been called Hartwell Court, after a DIY store that previously occupied the site.

Sue Read, 54, of Eastwood, was chosen as the winner from the entries submitted and won £150.

Hartwell Court is a development of 34 one and two-bedroom apartments designed for people over 60.

Each apartment will be connected to a 24-hour personal emergency system and video security at the main entrance. And there will be a residents' lounge, laundry room, landscaped garden and a lift - all overseen by a caring house manager.

More than a quarter of the apartments have already been reserved, months before the development is even due to open.

For more information call 01773 710522 or visit the sales information centre at freckleton brown on Nottingham Road, Tuesday to Saturday, 10.30am to 5pm.
