The grand opening of the Giltbrook retail park will take place tomorrow morning (Friday) at 11am.
Ashfield MP Geoff Hoon will be there - on his first visit since being appointed Secretary of State for Transport last Friday.
The 160,000 square feet retail park - which cost £70m - has been trading since early September.
Stores already opened include Laura Ashley, the home furnishings, clothes and gift store, Carpet Right, sofa specialist CSL, SCS, furniture store Barker and Stonehouse, and Starbucks.
As well as the shops creating up to 500 new jobs, the development has been designed and built with many important environment features. It will incorporate wind turbines, photo voltaic cells to power the lights, and solar collectors to provide hot water.
Other features include a 25,000-litre tank to collect and harness rainwater from the large roof area, and advanced energy monitoring equipment.
Also in attendance will be Dr Nick Palmer MP for Broxtowe, Cllr Richard Robinson and Senior representatives from British Land and Veolia Transport.
Pupils from Gilthill Primary School in Kimberley will be putting on a performance to mark the opening.
