The latest round of students at Greasley Beauvale Junior School have completed the long-running tradition of completing a DARE awareness course.
More than 50 Year 6 pupils completed the 10-week course which teaches the youngsters of the problem associated with drugs, tobacco, alcohol and anti-social behaviour. It also includes sections on pride, self esteem and taking a responsible role in the community.

Local county councillor David Taylor rewarded the school's efforts with a £1,000 grant from the county initiative fund. "The Drug Abuse Resistance Education project is well worth funding and I'm delighted at the school's support and success.

"Drugs are a terrible problem and the people who deal in them have no conscience about the effects they have on others. DARE makes our young people aware of the issues and hopefully sets them out on the right track," he said.

No more development, we're losing our beautiful countryside.
The protesters are overreacting
