Green-fingered parents in Langley Mill have had their growing great grub achievements recognised.
The budding horticulturists all attended Derbyshire County Council children's centres to learn about growing their own food. The learners have grown fresh vegetables from seed in local allotments as part of a Grow Great Grub OCN course.

Derbyshire County Council's cabinet member for cultural services Bob Janes said: "The success of these gardening projects is wonderful.
"People who may not have had any gardening experience have blossomed into fully fledged gardeners producing healthy, sustainable food to be proud of."

Many of the gardeners are new mums or have young children and learnt about growing, harvesting and preparing a wide variety of healthy and tasty treats.

Alan Withington, senior community project officer from Groundwork, said: "What better way could there be to get the children interested in healthy eating than to grow the fresh vegetables and make healthy choices with the children themselves?"

Today's Vote

Do you think there is room for development in our area, or do you agree with protesters that it's being turned into a "brick jungle"?
No more development, we're losing our beautiful countryside.
The protesters are overreacting
