Nottinghamshire County Council has been praised by Ofsted for successfully targeting resources to engage hard-to-reach and under-represented groups.
Ofsted carried out a joint inspection of the county council's adult and community learning service and the youth support service's skills for employment team.

The team praised the departments' good staff development and clear strategic vision and leadership.

They gave an overall verdict of good for all the main grades, including effectiveness of provision, capacity to improve and equality of opportunity. The results of the inspection were published by Ofsted last week.
