A BEAUTY contest in Langley Mill has been resurrected after 20 years.
Miss Langley Mill will be held as part of a fun day to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and will be held in the town over the bank holiday weekend, on August 25.

The event will be held at the Inn The Middle public house, from noon until l
ate.

Organiser Darren Hill, from the Langley Mill Fundraising Group, said: "The committee thought the beauty competition was a nice idea as the secondary reason for these events is to try and restore a little community spirit in these hard times.

"The organisers have also enlisted the help of local professional model Amy Steed, who will help with judging on the day. Amy has appeared on television show Mary Queen of Shops and in the Max Power magazine.

Mr Hill said: "We chose this charity as it affects so many people, we all know someone who has suffered with cancer.

"One of the committee members has a sister who is currently receiving treatment. She is also on the team and working as hard as the rest of us. This is inspiring us all to do our best."

A £300 barbecue, patio heater set and hundreds of pounds worth of hair care products will be up for grabs as part of an auction and a star prize for the Miss Langley Mill competition.

A sponsored chest and leg wax will also be held.

The group is currently seeking a sponsor to donate a prize for the beauty contest. Call 0798 0020183 for more details.
