A leading MP has heaped praise on a Selston school.
Chief Whip Geoff Hoon MP applauded Selston Arts and Community College's staff and students for making positive progress in areas such as dance, drama and music and for their improving exam results, following his visit there on Friday.

Headteacher Di Stendall, accompanied by members of staff and governors, gave Mr Hoon a guided tour of the college, during which he chatted to students and showed interest in school projects including music and stained-glass window design.

Selston upgraded from a comprehensive school to a specialist arts and community college in 2006.

Since then it has become one of the most improved schools in Nottinghamshire, with the proportion of students gaining good GCSE grades rising by 32 per cent in the last five years.
