A councillor has resigned from her position as a member of the Broxtowe Liberal Democrat group but will still stand as an Independent borough and town councillor for Kimberley.
Cllr Melissa Crow from Kimberley said: "I am aware that the Liberal Democrats have recently put out their Focus 118 in Kimberley and Cossall and some members of the public have been misled by this as it refers to me parting company with the local Lib
eral Democrat and district Focus Team.

"Some residents seem to think I am no longer a councillor and others seem to think I am just not delivering the leaflets anymore, but I am still a Liberal Democrat.

"I would like to reassure the public that I remain committed to my roles as borough and town councillor and believe my decision will be of great benefit to the public.

"I will not be beholden to toeing any party line and will be able to work with everyone, regardless of political persuasion to achieve the very best results for Cossall and Kimberley."

Cllr Richard Robinson, Labour borough councillor for Kimberley and Cossall said: "Even though she is a relatively new councillor, it's very clear Cllr Crow has become very popular with the local public, and she will now find it much easier to work for the community.

"Mel is a very talented councillor who has bags of potential to make a terrific difference in her council ward."
