Thousands of pounds are being invested in road repairs and improvements to be carried out across Amber Valley.
The money is part of a £12m package of Government transport funding.

This is to be used to support a range of measures that have been identified as a part of Derbyshire County Council's local transport plan for the period 2006-2011.

The work will include £100,000 for road resurfacing work at Mansfield Road in Heanor.

There will also be work worth £10,000 that is to be carried out at Marlpool Junior school, to put a refuge scheme in place.

Councillor Brian Lucas, cabinet member for environmental services, said: "Improving the road network is a priority for the council.

"We continue to work hard to improve and maintain the condition and safety of our roads and pavements for local people."
