SHANE Quigley and Carl Henshaw have rowed across the Mediterranean - without once leaving the comfort of Greasley Sports Centre.
The pair achieved their fitness goal of rowing their way to the one million metre milestone at the centre on Dovecote Road, Newthorpe - that's approximately 621 miles.

That is the equivalent of, between them, rowing across the Mediterranean Sea, or across the English Channel nearly 30 times each.

Carl and Shane have each been awarded a medal, certificate and t-shirt in recognition of their achievement.

And now they are looking towards their next target.

The duo have made a pact with sports instructor Richard to row a marathon distance of 42,195 metres each for the Cancer Research and Headway charities.

They are now in training for the April 14 event.
