Young kids could be dicing with death as they run from one park to another in Giltbrook.
And the threat, say police, comes from motorists who flout the speed limit as they tank down the 30mph downhill stretch at speeds in excess of 50 mph on Smithurst Road.

Now Neighbourhood police in Greasley and Giltbrook are trying to combat problems with speeding AND dog fouling.

Beat Manager Stuart Emery and PCSO Martyn Barsby regularly hand out surveys to residents in the area asking them what their concerns are, and these are the two issues that were recently flagged up.

Pc Emery said drivers are doing up to 50mph in 30mph zones and are putting children's lives at risk on Smithhurst Drive.

He said: "The road swoops down and there are two parks in the dip at the bottom either side of the road. The kids could run out of one park across the road to go to the other one and get knocked down."
