PREPARATIONS for this year’s Diamond Jubilee-themed Hemlock Happening in Stapleford have kicked off with a cheque presentation from its main sponsors.

Nottingham-based Castle Rock Brewery handed £500 to organisers in a Sunbeam Talbot Mark III 90 Drop-Head Coupe classic car, which went into production shortly after the Queen’s Coronation in 1952.

This years’ Hemlock Happening, organised by the Bramcote and Stapleford Golden Jubilee Group, will be held under the Hemlock Stone in Bramcote Hills Park on Saturday June 2 between 1pm and 10.45pm.

It will celebrate all things 1950s, including a vintage car display, ‘50s postcard pastiches, themed dance workshops, a Lindy Hop Invasion and an hour-long performance of fifties-inspired music from the Jeanie Barton Quartet.
