These cheerful children and their teacher are looking so please because they were on a trip to Whipsnade Zoo.

The photograph was sent in by Norman Langley, 85, who taught for many years at Granby Junior School in Heanor Road.

Norman, centre, is with pupils Christine Wheatley, Robert Wortley, Janice Collier, Richard Keightley, Mary Hartshorne, Elizabeth Ford on the back row. And on the front row are Robert Hayward, Peter Straw, Beryl Beardsley and John Statham.

Norman, now of Kent, said the photo was given to him by Mary Hartshorne on the back row, who now lives in Australia.
