An school, which was set to sponsor Eastwood Comprehensive School as it became an academy, has been forced to pull out.
Under Government rules, only schools deemed to have ‘outstanding’ Ofsted scores can sponsor new academies.
Rushcliffe, which received a ‘good’ rating after its last inspection, will therefore not sponsor Eastwood.
According to a note by chair of governors David Hill on the Eastwood school’s website, the sponsor is now likely to be Redhill Academy in Arnold, which does have an ‘outstanding’ rating.
“This was disappointing but we are delighted that Redhill have proved keen to work with us,” said Mr Hill.
