Staff at Eastwood’s DH Lawrence Heritage were named ‘Team of the Year’ at Experience Nottinghamshire’s STARS awards last week.
DH Lawrence Heritage, which is based across two highly acclaimed sites, received the accolade at a prestigious black tie event on Thursday October 24.
The STARS awards celebrate the best of Nottinghamshire’s tourism, hospitality, leisure and culture.
As well as ‘Team of the Year’, the centre’s services manager, Claire Purdy, received the runners-up award for ‘Outstanding Young Manager of the Year’.
Cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture, Cllr Ian Tyler, said: “Broxtowe Borough Council is delighted that DH Lawrence Heritage has received this accolade.
“It is a real credit to the hard work of the Lawrence Heritage Centre team.”
The awards follow a successful year for DH Lawrence Heritage, having recently received an ‘excellent’ rating for the first time in their annual VisitEngland accreditation assessment.
The STARS judging panel accessed the team across a comprehensive set of questions, including explaining what particular skills they bring to the industry and examples of effective team work, as well as carrying out interviews to aid in their decision making.
The centre has won several STARS awards in the past.
Last year it won Best Visitor Attraction, in 2009 it scooped two awards for Team of the Year and Best Ambassador and in 2006 it got Team of the Year.
