A Bulwell business is appealing to green-fingered friends in the community to dig in and help them support a good cause.
The Market Place branch of The Nottingham Building Society is currently working with a charity called LIFE (Learning in Fun Environment).
LIFE is a learning provision for adults aged 19 plus with learning difficulties and disabilities based on Main Street in Bulwell.
It was after the group successfully applied for a community grant of £250 to help towards creating a sensory garden that the staff decided to try and help further.
“The group moved to the Bulwell venue last September from Aspley where they had a lovely garden but this new site has a yard,” said Jo Bearder of The Nottingham. “They have started work trying to create a sensory garden and area to enjoy and we want to support them further.”
LIFE currently has over 65 service-users who learn independent living skills Monday to Friday and social events include a Friday night disco. This enables them to meet new people and enjoy learning in a safe, fun environment.
Jo added: “We are appealing to the community for donations of plants and gardening equipment that would help them achieve their goal.”
Charity director Suzie Wright is delighted with the help from The Nottingham and hoped more people would get involved.
“We have started work on the garden but any help would be really appreciated.”
