An Ilkeston man has been charged with handling stolen goods and two men arrested after a raid at Cash Monkey pawnbrokers.

John Foster, 27 of Percy Street, Ilkeston, was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning (September 24).

He appeared at Derby Magistrates’ Court yesterday afternoon on a charge relating to a stolen Suzuki GSXR motorbike which was taken from Grey Meadow Road in Ilkeston on September 13.

The case was adjourned until next week and Foster will remain in police custody until October 1 when he will appear by video link.

Foster’s arrest led police to carry out a search of Cash Monkey pawnbrokers on Station Road, Ilkeston.

Two men were later arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

A police van and a police car arrived at Cash Monkey in Station Road after 2pm to carry out the raid.

Around 10 police officers were at the scene and they recovered several bags of evidence from the shop.

Cash Monkey has reopened today.

Foster has not entered a plea at this stage.
