BOGUS gas board officials conned their way into the home of 60-year-old Nuthall woman and stole cash.

The men went to the woman’s house in Oak Drive saying they wanted to check her water before stealing her handbag, containing money.

One man first turned up on her doorstep saying he was from a gas company and needed to check the water supplies at the property because there had been an explosion nearby.

The woman went upstairs to turn the taps on in the bathroom as she had been asked to do, and as she came downstairs another man was in her kitchen, also claiming to be from the gas board.

After a brief conversation the two men left and the woman later found her handbag missing.

The incident happened on Friday 26 August between 1.15pm and 3.30pm.

Police have worked with the 60-year-old to produce this E-fit of one of the men they want to speak to in connection with the distraction burglary.

The man pictured in the E-fit is described as being about 30 years old with black short hair and was wearing a navy blue jumper and trousers.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call DC Mark Kemp at Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 9999 extension 8125636 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
