Boxer competes in national competition

A boxer from Brinsley is competing for a national title.

Ex-soldier Christopher McGrath is fighting for the British Masters title and will donate every penny from the match to the charity, Help for Heroes.

He decided to collect sponsorship and donate proceeds taken from fundraising on the day to Help for Heroes after his friend Tony Checkley lost his leg in Afghanistan last year.

The White Lion pub in Brinsley is one of the sponsors for the event.

Chris will compete at a venue in Norwich this Sunday.

The 28-year-old took up boxing after he was discharged was from the army three-and-a-half years ago.
