Broxtowe Youth Mayor hosts remembrance

BROXTOWE Borough Council Youth Mayor Tilly Stone will lead a special remembrance service to mark the 12th annual Holocaust Memorial Day later this month.

Council employees, councillors, residents and children will join religious and multi-faith groups to mark Holocaust Memorial Day in Bramcote on Friday January 27.

Tilly will share her experience of a recent twinning visit to Auschwitz – the site of the former Nazi concentration camp where more than a million men, women and children were murdered during World War Two.

Holocaust Memorial Day, which takes place on the same date each year, remembers those affected by the crimes against humanity committed during the Holocaust, as well as in subsequent atrocities in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, Kosovo, Darfur and others throughout the world.
