Ball rolling firm’s appeal

An appeal hearing was held to decide whether a giant ball-rolling sport could continue operating in Westwood.

Spheremania – which runs bases for the ball-rolling activity that involves climbing into a giant ball and rolling down a hill – was refused planning permission by Ashfield District Council last year but bosses have appealed the decision.

The appeal on Tuesday heard the arguments for and against the application and a verdict will be returned in about a month.

The company, which has 14 sites nationwide, wants to use the field between Brinsley Hill and Yew Farm, but permission was refused because of concerns about flooding, noise, and the possible affect it could have on the farm animals.
