Fun day planned for cancer charity

Greasley councillors have decided to organise a family sports day in aid of Breast Cancer Research after hearing how passionately local people feel about the disease.

The councillors want to promote the Greasley Sports Centre and say they chose Breast Cancer as the charity after the recent removal of the village’s breast screening unit caused such a stir in the community.

Greasley parish Council clerk Andy Marshall said: “The centre boasts the MUGA, a large sports hall and a playing field so it should be possible to arrange a fun tournament for all ages and abilities.”

Instead of charging for the use of facilities the team entry fees would be donated to charity.
