THE Mayor of Broxtowe officially opened a new housing development in Giltbrook this week.

Cllr Pat Lally opened the new affordable homes development in Pitch Close, off Giltway, on Tuesday, January 25.

The development includes 13 two and three bedroom houses and nine apartments

The 22 properties have been rented out to families on the council’s housing list, including local people who faced living in cramped conditions, paying very high private rents or not being able to move into a home of their own.

The £2.68 million development is the result of a partnership project between Waterloo Housing Group, Broxtowe Borough Council and the construction firm CKC.

It was funded by Waterloo, with support from the council and £1.08m of government grant from the Homes and Communities Agency.
