A CANDLE touring the area to mark 200 years of church schools found its way to Selston last week.

A special candle is on a journey around schools in Nottinghamshire to celebrate the 200 year milestone and was handed to Selston Church of England Infant and Nursery School last Wednesday.

A service was held where pupils, parents and teachers were joined by representatives from the Southwell and Nottingham diocese and Rev Shouler from St Helen’s Church in Selston.

The candle had just been to Underwood and from Selston went on to Huthwaite.

Events and services have been happening up and down the country for the last couple of months.
