A CARTOONIST visited Awsworth Primary School to talk to the children about what he did and teach them how to draw cartoon animals.

Andy Gilbert visited the kids as part of World Book Day.

The artist, who works from his workshop in Markeaton Park, revealed to the children that drawing cartoons was great fun, but warned he was often up until the early hours working on different projects.

He then visited each class in turn teaching the pupils how to draw cartoon dogs, cats, horses, cows and pigs.

Headteacher Jo Knapp said: “He did an introductory talk about what he did and then did some practical work with them which they loved.

“They really, really enjoyed it. He visited for World Book Day two years ago as well and the kids are already asking when he can come back again,” said Ms Knapp.
