Charity night for good causes

A charity event is being held at the Greasley Miners’ Welfare to raise money for four good causes.

The live music event on July 19 will raise money for Help for Heroes, ABF Soldiers, Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and Cancer Research.

Manager Leighann Richardson said collection buckets on the bar tend to go unnoticed so she wanted to do something that would raise more money.

“We have collection pots on the bar but they don’t grab the attention, so we want to do a big charity night,” she said.

The welfare already raises for ABF Soldiers and the air ambulance, but Leighann wanted to add the other two charities into the mix because her dad used to be a soldier, and she has had cancer in her family.

“There’s not enough being done for charity and we want to raise as much as we possibly can,” said Leighann. “There will be an Elvis tribute act and a pop band, as well as a large raffle with prizes including booze, cakes and vouchers.”

The event starts at 7pm.

Tickets cost £2.50 and are available from the welfare itself or from Leighann on 07581 212 041.
