Community-spirited Sarnia retires

A woman responsible for making Kimberley’s gardens look beautiful has retired.

Sarnia Draper started off volunteering as the town’s gardener, before she was taken on full time several months later by Kimberley Town Council.

Kimberley residents Steve Brunt and Shane Easom initially launched the volunteering project back in 2008 called ‘colourful Kimberley’ where they gathered volunteers from around the town.

Steve said: “She has been a real spirit of the community - not just planting the gardens but for people to come and talk to and to get advice. She did a tremendous job.”

Sarnia is pictured with local friends, along with examples of her work. She has retired after five years.
