Eastwood Town Council expressed concerns over what would be sold at a new martial arts shop if plans went ahead.
The councillors, who have the application on hold, said there would be ‘stringent rules and regulations’ over what might be sold at the shop if it was to open.
The building is currently a tattoo studio and a planning application has gone in to change its use of it to a martial arts shop.
Cllr David Hallam said: “There are various lethal weapons in martial arts which is why we are holding it off at the moment, until we find out what it is going to sell.”
Cllr Charlie Robb said: “There will be stringent rules and regulations.”
