Eastwood police have issued a warning to residents to be security conscious while out Christmas shopping this month.

PCSO Teresa Billington is advising Eastwood folk to make sure purse’s are out of sight for pickpockets, buy high value items with credit cards where possible so they are more likely to be insured if they are stolen, and to shield pin numbers at pay points and cash machines.

She said to use steering locks on cars, remove sat navs, set alarms when out shopping and hide presents in the boot if they have to be stored in the car.

PCSO Billington also advised to make sure presents at home were not easily visible through windows.
