LAND that Eastwood Town Council sold to Nottinghamshire Police for a state-of-the-art station could be sold back to the council as plans for the £3.5m development have been scrapped.
At a meeting of the town council on Monday night Cllr Charlie Robb said that discussions to buy the land back from the force were underway but were in the very early stages.
He added that there were other interested parties but could not say any more on the future of the site at this stage.
News broke that the new station was on hold in August last year – angering councillors who had moved out of their old base to make way for the new building.
Chiefs said they would have to take officers off the streets if new builds were to go ahead.
It was announced last week that the current Eastwood station’s front counter had avoided closure as police looked at ways of saving cash as a result of funding cuts.
