Council prepared for cold weather

Nottinghamshire County Council has said it learned lessons from last year’s freezing conditions and is now well prepared for any repeat of last year’s weather.

Cllr Richard Jackson, cabinet member for transport and highways, said: “We learned a lot from last winter’s prolonged bad weather.

“At this point last year, we had to stop salting any parts of the network other than Priority One routes in order to conserve salt supplies.

“This year we have been able to add an extra 10km to the gritted network and no road section has been removed.”
