SIX of Nottinghamshire County Council’s care homes could be sold to unlock £9.4m investment for older people.
Under proposals Runwood Homes would buy six of the council’s 12 residential care homes – those in Bramcote, Carlton, Hucknall, West Bridgford, Mansfield and Worksop.
The council would save an estimated £900,000 per year in running costs and the savings, totalling £4.5m over five years, would be ploughed back into frontline care services for older people.
Residents would be completely unaffected. All six homes would remain as care homes, keep existing fees for current residents and maintain the existing staff group.
Runwood Homes has also pledged to invest £500,000 per home.
