EASTWOOD councillor Keith Longdon presented cheques to support two more community groups last week.
He gave the Eastwood Arts Festival committee £1,000 to put towards the event this summer, and a church youth group £450 to put towards this year’s popular VIBE event.
The arts festival is held every July and offers a range of creative activities and performances and the VIBE event, also in July, gives teenagers the chance to show off their musical talent at a small festival on Coronation Park.
Cllr Longdon, who represents the town on Nottinghamshire County Council said: “I support these people wholeheartedly because they work so hard for our local youth. They recognise what is required and have had a great deal of success. I say good on them!”
The youth group is run from the New Horizon Church every Friday night.
The church youth group is open to children in school years seven to 13 and runs between 7.45pm and 9.30pm.
There is a £1 entry charge and they do games and activities.
