Credit Union to open January

A new credit union will be open in Kimberley for two days a week as of January next year.

The credit union will start off as an information point run from Rumbletums Cafe in Newdigate Street, moving towards a full service as soon as possible thereafter.

The first meeting regarding the new credit union was held earlier this month, where it was unanimously agreed it should be set up as soon as possible.

Kimberley councillor Richard Robinson said the times the information point will be open will depend on what hours volunteers are able to do.

Cllr Robinson said: “I am personally very excited by this initiative and a huge thank you must go to Jeff Buck at Rumbletums who is an unsung hero and is so community-minded.

“Credit Unions provide a safe and much more ethically friendly way of saving, as well as offering loans at very reasonable rates.”
