Bailed over spitting charge
A SELSTON dad who spat in his then-partner’s face has been granted bail after spending a month in custody.
Christopher Stone, 21, was remanded into custody on December 18 after breaching bail conditions, but was released by Chesterfield magistrates on Wednesday.
He had initially denied assaulting the woman but then changed his plea to guilty based on a different account of the offence.
The victim claims Stone spat in her mouth, but while he admits spitting he denies doing it in her mouth.
He also denies pushing her during the argument. The court was told that the victim had two children, one being Stone’s daughter.
At an earlier hearing, Stone, of Alfreton Road, Selston, admitted causing £150 damage to a patio door at her home on the same date.
He had previous convictions for assault, racially-aggravated threatening behaviour and damaging property.
Sentence was adjourned until February 8 for probation service reports and he was granted bail on condition he did not go within a mile of her home.
