BREAKING: Man murdered in Ilkeston named locally

Police are appealing for information.

Police are still at the scene of a murder in Ilkeston this morning (Thursday).

The 48-year-old man has been named locally as Mick Moss.

Officers are still seeking two men seen leaving his house in Canal Street around the time of the incident about 9pm last night.

They are carrying out house-to-house inquiries along Canal Street and crime scene investigators are completing forensic work.

Police were called to a house in the street following a report of a disturbance at around 9pm last night.

The man was found to have been assaulted at the house and despite treatment by paramedics his injuries proved fatal.

A post mortem examination is due to take place today to determine how the man died.
